About x

A cunning rogue with a silver tongue and a love for gil. Growing up as an orphan in Uldah, Howl learned quite young that sometimes you have to steal to survive, and sometimes for fun.

Overly-cocky and annoyingly talkative, Howl fancies himself a charming man. He's got great charisma and wit, able to coverse with most people with practised ease. That does not make him kind however. He's always got room for a snide remark or a pointed jab.

Howl has a strategic mind, making him a great leader. He can change plans on the fly when needed, and is well aware of all his party mates'abilities.

He is not naturally gifted in any skill, all his skills have been developped thorugh hard training. He does not want anyone to know of this, however. He wishes for people to think of him as naturally gifted.

Howl knows not of his origins, or how he was born; or to whom. All he knows is that he had been an Uldahnnian orphan all his life, and that is that. He does not know, but I do.

Howl was born of a result of a scandelous love-affair between a high sharlyan offical and a gleaner in their employ. Not particularly enthusastic of the idea of the information of the affair getting out; Howl was shipped out to an orphanage in Uldah as soon as it was safe to transport him.

Howl lived a few years at the orphanage, until he was aged 10. But he never liked it. The place, full of others like him, felt heavily of sorrow. Despair permiated that haunted place, so much so that it seeped into Howl's bones -- and made him restless. He decided on his 10th birthday that he could make it on his own, or die trying.

He lived the rest of his life up until his sudden boost into Warrior of Light status, as a petty thief and scam-artist. While at first it was just to survive: he soon found himself high on the thrill of escaping away with a big haul undetected. He made a pretty notable name for himself, something that he was deeply thrilled about. He loved the infamy, the bounties, the chase.

But that infamy is exactly how he found himself bound to the very knight who used to chase after him for years in Uldah. Morrys Vrumme --professional pain-in-the-backside -- caught him skulking around on the ship departing to Tural. To prevent his escape, Morrys casted a particularly complex and rare hex to chain them together. And thus began Howl's no-good-very-bad Dawntrail experience.

He was never a kind-hearted man. Nothing like the first Warrior of Light of the source, who seemed to be perfect if the papers were anything to go by. So it was a shock to everyone when the expensive looking gem that Howl managed to pawn off of G'enkei suddenly started to resonate with him, and speak to him. And what's worse, is that despite his best efforts to relinquish the jewel back to the previous owner, G'enkei simply laughed and gave Howl 'his blessing'. Whatever that means.

And thus begins Howl's unwilling ascention into the next bearer of the Azem Crystal and Saviour of the Shards. Great.
